Hospice Massage
As massage therapists we can provide a state of relaxation and a compassionate touch for our hospice patients. We provide a non-pharmacological approach to pain management bringing comfort measures and quality of life to the patient.
This course is interactive and includes group discussion, lecture, and hands-on time. You will gain practical information necessary to assess the patient and their needs. You will learn how to effectively communicate with your hospice team to work safely and become a healing presence for your patient. Participants will engage in group discussions and demonstrations regarding the challenges with hospice massage. This course covers the proper safety requirements for PPE and sanitization and demonstrations on how to safely perform a massage therapy visit with guidance on techniques.

About your instructor:
Amy Steinback has been a licensed massage therapist since 1995. She graduated from Capri College of Massage Therapy in Dubuque, IA. She has worked with physicians, physical therapists, nurses and chiropractors over her career in massage therapy. Amy has worked within hospitals, nursing homes and private practice settings throughout her career. Through her years of experience working for a local hospice she desired to share her knowledge in hospice massage. Amy wants to educate others to help prioritize comfort and quality of life for hospice patients when providing end-of-life care.
PLEASE NOTE: No partial credits given. Participants must be present for the entire classroom to receive CE hours. There are no refunds if the cancellation is made less than 5 business days before the first day of class.
Should a class be canceled due to low participation, registrants will be notified in advance and receive a full refund.
**Bring a pillow and a towel, no need for massage tables. Please wear comfortable clothing.
